Female Art in History

Female Art in History from Antiquity to the Contemporary Era

Authors:

Anna Rita Delucca, Irene Manente

From Hellenistic times to the present day, the two authors tell the stories of well-known and lesser-known female artists from around the world: from the Greek painter Timarete to the Abbess Hildegard of Bingen; from Tintoretta to Elisabetta Sirani; from the Impressionist Berhe Morisot to Picasso's tragic muse Dora Maar; from the American Georgia O'Keeffe to the great female artists of South America; from contemporary artists such as Norma Mascellani to the still-living Greta Schodl and Paula Nicho Cumez. An evocative journey through time, with many works now held in the world's major museums.
